2019 Church Council
Tim Walters, Building, Property & Grounds
Sheri Boos, Education Chair
Sheri started attending Christ the King Lutheran at the age of five. As a military child, she moved around a lot but eventually came back to CTK. After graduating from UTSA, Sheri moved to a small town and spent 32 years in public school education. Upon retiring, she returned to Christ the King Lutheran and serves as a Bible study leader, reader, and assists with youth activities. Sheri firmly believes CTK is an awesome place for families.
Susan Abbey, Fellowship Chair, Secretary
Susan has been a part of CTK for most of her life. She recalls worshipping at Rose Garden Elementary when CTK was being established and putting the chairs up and taken them down with her dad. Her parents were youth leaders. She remembers them making all the kids show up for church on Sunday after a day at the beach where almost everyone got badly sunburned. No one had heard of sunscreen back then. Her family left CTK for a while and helped Prince of Peace get established, but then back to CTK they came. It was home. As most teenagers do, Susan stopped coming until after she married and had kids. When her son, Chris, was in first or second grade, she started attending regularly again. Soon after, she found herself teaching Sunday School and the rest is history. She has been involved with the Education committee while her children were growing and many years after. Susan has served on council too many times to count as the Education chair and most recently as the Vice President and President of the congregation. Serving as the Fellowship Chair is a new experience that Susan is looking forward too.
Kathy Staley, Outreach Chair, Vice President
Kathy was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and came to Randolph AFB when she was 6 months old. She lived on Randolph and attended Sunday school at the Base Chapel Center and church at Chapel 1. When her dad retired from the Air Force at Randolph, the family moved to Schertz. Even though her parents were charter members of Christ the King, Kathy attended Sunday school and church with her friends at their home church. After graduating from college, Kathy was confirmed as an adult. She has been on previous Church councils as worship and education chair, and financial secretary. She is a member of the choir, liturgist and communion assistant. It will be fun and challenging to serve as Outreach Chair to help outside organizations and members within the church.
Stacy Heston, President
Stacy was born and raised in Victoria, TX and moved to Universal City, TX after graduating from Texas A&M. As a lifelong Lutheran, she became a member of Christ the King in 2002. Over the years, Stacy has been involved in the Handbell choir, Altar Guild, various roles with the youth including the Sunday School Music programs and Vacation Bible School.
